12 hours in nyc

One city. Twelve hours. What would you do? Fall break just ended and I'm glad that I finally had the chance to take a breather. I took a hard hit in terms of both academics and health, so these past few weeks have been a roller coaster for me. It's time to get back to the grind—time to focus on what's important, and what isn't too. I'll be absent for a bit after this, as my second midterm season is just around the corner. Do not fear: I will be back. A better me will be back.

New York City is a two hour long bus ride away from Philadelphia. At one point, I was walking alone through the bustling crowds of Times Square... and it felt absolutely amazing. This break was much needed. Oh, and here's a short video diary:

I love NYC. Crossing my fingers that I'll be able to stop by again soon. Places I visited are listed in the video description. Let me know if you have any questions. Feedback for the video will also be appreciated!

Before I leave, I want to bring your attention to something so, so relevant to all of us today. Take a minute to watch this video by Buzzfeed on society's misconception of bipolar disorder. I'm very passionate about mental health, and that's why this really touched me. If you ever need someone to listen to you, I'm here to lend an ear! Always remember... there's great people out there who will have shoulders for you to lean on. Seek! And you will definitely find. You are not alone.

style inspo

Hiya! Here's something new. I'm feeling inspired by my favorite season, autumn. Have you ever gathered together your favorite style inspirations and mashed them together to create your own unique style? If you're interested on my take, that's what this post consists of today. After endlessly scrolling through Google images and Tumblr, I've collected my top fashion inspirations. Warning: there's a massive number of photos coming your way! All photo credits will be listed at the end.

Like I've mentioned before, I'm obsessed with head to toe black and white. Black and white stripes, black and white grids, black and white everything! I adore Korean street style, which incorporates these two colors very often. What's awesome about black and white is that matching colors becomes very easy: the color of your purse, shoes, hair, background, so on and so forth. Black and white is also very minimal, which helps bring about a clean, sophisticated image.

Comfort is a factor of fashion that I take seriously. As a student, it's important that I'm comfortable in whatever I'm wearing while studying and listening to lectures. Oversized clothing achieves the perfect comfort I'm talking about. My favorites are oversized tees, cardigans, and sweaters—can't forget boyfriend jeans, mom jeans, oversized scarves and hats as well.

I know it sounds weird, but I find a lot of fashion inspiration from men's fashion. As my closest friends know, I'm a fervent fangirl of models. However, it's not just the models themselves I love—I also genuinely love their senses of style.  My top three favorite models are Soo Hyuk Lee (Korea), Joo Hyuk Nam (Korea), and Sen Mitsuji (Japan). Soo Hyuk is the one in the large crimson coat; he usually likes to dress in all black and is a fan of leather anything (jacket, pants, shoes, etc.). Joo Hyuk, of the last three photos, swears by casual clothing and black and white. I've noticed that Sen tends to go for casual as well, with hints of sporty. Think jersey tees and backwards baseball caps.

Hyo Jin Kong is a popular South Korean actress, known for a number of television dramas and big screen films. But what sets her apart even more is her eccentric fashion style, which the public has not failed to notice. It's been reported before that she styles her outfits on her own for her characters, and she's never afraid to go bold. I honestly can't pinpoint exactly what her style is (she's all over the spectrum), but I can say that her bright personality and taste are powerful influences in both the entertainment and fashion industries of South Korea.

My favorite fashion blogger of all time is Zoe Suen of (previously) Fashiononymous. I've been an avid follower of hers for over three years now, and to this day she still puts me in awe. From pink jumpers to casual joggers, Zoe is able to put together beautiful outfits using the most unexpected, eye-catching pieces. She fully embraces her unique style (which I admire greatly), and with it I believe that she's made a humongous impact in the blogosphere. I know she's going places and I look forward to what she has in store for the future.

Who/what is your style inspo?
